Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer, songwriter and actress. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music. She signed to independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest staff songwriter ever hired by Sony/ATV Music Publishing. In 2006, she released her self-titled debut album. Swift co-wrote eight of the album's songs with Liz Rose and wrote three songs alone. The album was a critical and commercial success, and spawned five singles, including the hit single "Teardrops on My Guitar", which is considered Swift's breakthrough single and her first crossover hit, and "Our Song", her first number-one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. As part of the album's promotion, Swift opened on tour for Rascal Flatts, George Strait, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. She received a Best New Artist nomination at the 50th Grammy Awards.
